Instead, PLEASE RESCUE from your local shelter or rescue group. You can find thousands of dogs available locally by visiting www.petfinder.com.

I volunteer with several dog rescue organizations. My most active role is that of foster mom to dogs of all breeds rescued from kill shelters in West Virginia and Kentucky. These dogs live with me and my husband (and our 3 dogs) until a suitable home can be found. You can learn more about this group and see a list of all dogs currently being fostered by this amazing group of volunteers by visiting www.rogersrescues.com.

I also volunteer with The Aussie Rescue & Placement Helpline, a rescue group focused exclusively on saving pure-bred Australian Shepherds. You can learn more about them at www.aussierescue.com.

If you are looking to add a pet to your family, please DO NOT buy from a pet store. These stores are full of puppy mill dogs - offspring of dogs kept in cramped, dirty cages for the sole purpose of producing puppies. The breeding dogs are underfed, often ill and disposed of like trash when they are no longer fertile.
